This mandatory course gives students the opportunities to learn through movement and is interwoven with health and experiential related concepts. The Course will provide students with the opportunities to develop their movement skills by engaging in swimming, various athletic activities, net and wall games, invasion games and striking and fielding games. Students will also focus on the well-being of themselves and others.
The Concepts covered in Physical Education include but are not limited to:
Motor Skill Learning and Improving Performance
Interpersonal Skills
Social Responsibility
Socio-Cultural Factors
Leadership
Communication
Decision Making
Health and Fitness Components.
Teamwork and Sportsmanship
By the end of the Course, students will:
Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the benefits of physical activity and its impact on health and well-being
Have participated in a variety of activities to improve sports specific movement skills and improve fitness
Be able to demonstrate safe and responsible behaviour during physical activity
Understand the importance of teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship in physical activity
Understand the importance of developing a lifelong enjoyment of physical recreation
