Year 7 to 9 English

Junior English is centred on building foundational skills in reading and analysis. 

Students learn to identify and break down a range of language features in order to understand the meanings beneath them. The programme also spans poetry, long and short prose, and drama, developing students’ ability to both create and engage with literary works.

We also place real emphasis on encouraging a love of reading. As part of this, every Junior student has the chance to choose a book of their own for an in-depth, term-long assignment.
