Introduction to Physics
(Course spans Year 9, Year 10 and is examined in Year 11 during May/June)
IGCSE Physics provides a foundation course in Physics. It requires students to demonstrate knowledge with an understanding of physics topics, to be able to handle information and solve problems and to demonstrate experimental skills. Topics include:
Motion
Forces and energy
Thermal physics
Properties of waves including light and sound
Electricity
Electromagnetism
Atomic physics
The course covers almost all the core areas of physics and applies the concepts to everyday experiences as much as possible. All students are taught the Extended Curriculum but students may choose to sit either Core or Extended level IGCSE examinations. In both cases, there is a strong practical component.
