IGCSE Level Music

Prerequisites: Students should perform on an instrument or voice at a proficient level and must be receiving regular individual lessons. Entry is subject to discussion or audition if required.
This 18 month course develops skills in Listening, Performing and Composing.
Listening (40%): Students study a wide range of music from seven different focus areas. They learn to analyse music using the elements of music and develop a strong theoretical understanding. This component is assessed through an external examination.
Performing (30%): Students present both solo and ensemble performances, recorded for external moderation. Regular performance opportunities are provided through concerts and recitals.
Composing (30%): Students create two original compositions, developing their individual style while applying compositional techniques and conventions.
