IGCSE Level Computer Science

(Course commences for Year 10 students only. 

The course spans Year 10 and 11, and is examinedin Year 11).

 

Prerequisites: Students enrolling in this course are expected to have a sound knowledge of the functions of a computer/laptop and possess good typing skills.

This course aims to enable students to develop computational thinking skills as well as

developing an understanding of the main principles of solving problems using computers.

Students will develop the skills necessary to solve computer-based problems using a high- level programming language; an understanding of the component parts of computer systems and how they interrelate; an understanding of the internet as a means of communication and its associated risks. 

The course also encourages an understanding of the development and use of automated and emerging technologies.


The course follows two topic areas – computer systems and algorithms, programming and logic.

  • Algorithm design and problem-solving
